Angklung is one of the most famous Indonesian traditional musical instrument created from bamboo. The ensemble of Angklung can performs beautiful instrumental musics.


In the old time, Angklung was used on Hindu ritual activities after successull rice field production during Padjajaran Kingdom (14th century), located at West Jawa Island, Indonesia. Then Angklung music spread into neighbours cities.


The original Angklung was shaped using Sundanese tone, Laras Pelog and Salendro. Modern Angklung was created to adapt Solfege scale, do re mi tone. The length and diameter (cms) of bamboo is different according to the tone. The higher tone uses small and short bamboo. The lower tone uses long and big diameter of bamboo. Two shaped bamboo are winched into a frame of Angklung. Angklung is shaken to produce sound.

Angklung is easy to play by all generation. That's why it is so popular in Indonesia. Nowadays, Angklung ensemble is played on social events, such as celebration party, independent day, in school and rural events in Indonesia and surounding countries.
